um
I suspect that's a Fetch question - but you could try 'Walk' instead of 'Walking' as the activity name? Then it would be consistent with the others?

Fetch will be defaulting the different Garmin categories into Fetch categories. Nothing you can do about it and Fetch will need to make changes if necessary.

But the 735 is (more or less) all custom, so you name it what you want, I think, other than Run, Bike, Swim, Indoor Swim, Indoor Run & Triathlon.
So Walk/Walking/Hike (or paddleboarding or whatever) are custom descriptions.

I see what you mean, so essentially Fetch is throwing walking under cross training because it doesn't know what to do with it as it's custom.
Walk is a specific activity on 245, you can add custom ones but walk is already there or available to add, hike isn't though, walk indoors is.

I believe if you use the 'Simple Hike' app on the 735 then it imports correctly. Its been a while since I had a 735 but I seem to remember that is the case

From a tech point of view, activity types on Garmins are encoded as numbers for sport type and subtype (run, trail for instance). Different models support different ranges of sports, anything outside that range will be Other no matter what you call it, and would probably show as whatever your default for cross training is on Fetch. So it isn't all down to Ian's decisions!

Lizzie I’ve only been using my 735 for swimming recently maybe a dozen times and this morning is the only morning I know it was accurate. I had to press lap every 25m. Today all lapped as 25 Sometimes they lap as 50 but at least I can see that. I think if you stopped to adjust your goggles etc it thinks you’ve done another lap.

Oh and GC these days uses the name you have set for the activity, may for all I know be guessing activity type information from that, but it's up to Fetch how it all gets interpreted for the log here.

Thanks for that info Sigh. I've written it all down for when I get my new watch and just fiddled with my 230 and found it!
The thing annoying me most with this watch these days is how dodgy it is to get the right "spot" on the connection for charging and I don't think it holds the charge for so long now.
Good to know that the 245 has a walk category now.

You're welcome, ar.
The good news is that the charging lead for the 24x series is more robust than the clip used with the 23x series.
