Have you seen Garmin Coach? You can do plans for specific races like 5K or 10K with coach-subscribed sessions. I think that could really help the beginners.

Ooh, don't get me started on Garmin Coach. I tried Galloway - he has you doing run/walk (which is fine) but the plan has things like "15 mins run/walk to your choice of interval", and you have to work that out yourself, which is NOT what a beginner wants, especially when they've just bought a watch which can beep to tell them when to change from run to walk and vice versa. I'm now trying a different coach, but the plan isn't really great when you can't see more than one planned run into the future. I think I'm just going to go back to the Coach to 5k plan (for my umpteenth comeback attempt).

Having watched someone use the suggested workouts on a 945 for a few months I've actually been quite impressed. It seems to have a reasonable feedback loop and adjusts sessions accordingly to performance and recovery. It also appears to periodise the training. The newer versions are far more "intelligent" now they're using the logic acquired from FirstBeat than Garmin's original version.

The downside does seem that it appears to be a generic program aimed somewhere between 10k and half, and you can't specify a target distance or date.

I know Dan to say hello to and he once confirmed on Twitter that I did indeed know what I was talking about regarding interval sessions and whether shorter or longer recoveries are more aerobic (in the face of some scepticism).

As hoped for, the Garmin Fenix 6x Pro is available on Amazon Prime Day. Do people use a screen protector on these and if so, do you find them okay? I'm thinking if the device gets wet, does it steam up under the screen protector, or is it generally fine?

I don’t have a screen protector on my fenix 6 (S pro)

I never had a scratch on my forerunner 235, although if anything did happen to this watch I’d be cross with myself!

Thanks Jelly. I have had a few different Garmins over the years and never used a screen protector either, but somehow this seems more of an investment for me! I did fall on a Garmin 230 a few years ago and very slightly chipped the edge of the screen but otherwise was it fine, but as you say I'd be annoyed if I destroyed this fenix when out on the trails!

FWIW, I use a screen protector on my 935, mainly because years ago I caught a watch on something and it got an annoying scratch.

I can hardly tell it's there. I think moisture sticks to it slightly more on a drizzly day like today, but it's not an issue.
