Have you lost any important functions in moving to your new watch HOD??

Isn't it just that Fenix is basically "top of the range" Garmin sports watch, and that's why a lot of (middle class, senior management) runners have them. Max out on features, probably most of them never used etc...

NE, yes I use the navigation a lot - it's the first watch I've had that has actual maps on it and I wouldn't want to be without them now. I've actually replaced the standard map with one with more detail including more paths & contour lines, not that that's much use in Cambridge, but handy elsewhere.

That's cool. Was it OpenStreetMap or suchlike that you loaded? I struggle to see the contour lines on my eTrex when I'm running, do you find it easy enough picking out the detail?

p.s. Larks - I did wonder that myself, but surely most runners will put functionality in front of just wearing the most expensive watch in the shop? As HOD says, it's a chunky piece of kit and there has to be some benefit to owning one.

I've known people spend £000s on watches which only ever tell the time, so who knows NE!!
I suppose a bit like the MAMILs who spend £4000 on a road bike to lug their unfit bodies around, people like to buy "quality". And if you can't decide whether you can live with or without functionality, yet you can afford £600 to spend, you might as well buy the top of the range watch so you'll never feel you've missed out.

Mmmm yes, we get a lot of those MAMILs round here. There's a disproportionate amount of expensive bike shops in town and they do cater for the well-heeled and overweight, so I know what you mean. Only yesterday I overtook a pair moving at a very sedate pace (downhill), they appeared to be riding Pinarello Dogma F12s. Meanwhile I'm scouring eBay for second-hand frames .....
