Well done, Ally-C and good luck CW.

I ran the Sportscheck run Leipzig in 24:45 last Sunday in 30°C. It felt much harder than that though. It was a tough day out there as the sub-25 pacer and we lost some people on the final km as they struggled with the heat.

I did the Budapest half last Sunday in the high 20s and just jogged after the 2 hour pacer for the first half then speeded up a tad thereafter. Our Summer has been so shit it’s the warmest conditions I’ve ran in since Berlin in the Spring, where folk were collapsing everywhere.

15 mins warm-up and cool down, throwing in some strides on all distance(s) apart from the marathon upwards. The strides will give the old bones a heads up as to what’s about to happen 😱

I'm reviving this thread with a 22:15 5k benchmark in today's New Year's Eve run. I hope to get under 22 in more favourable conditions relatively soon. Today was really cold with a chilling breeze and some icy patches. I'm tentatively looking at the 5000 m city champs at the end of April to get to a low 21 time.

First parkrun of the year done and dusted and under 25 minutes for the first time since my hernia operation in October. Hope to improve on this throughout the year.
