After I finally ran sub 4 a couple of years ago, I decided I was only doing road marathons if there was a good sociable side to it so I wouldn't be too bothered by the time. Booked one with my niece and nephew last year but injured myself

Managed 22:18 for the second half of the Troon 10k tonight. Now need to work out how to translate that into a faster 5k!

I would recommend a decent length warm up, too. I got my fastest ever 5k when I ran up to the start (it was a A to B course) and then gave it my all on the way back down. 20:33 but on a net downhill course.
I'm focusing on 5k training for the next 10 weeks or so. I got a 22:11 a week after the marathon. Not a bad start, only 51 seconds outside my official PB. That's the first goal, beat 21:20 this year.

22:46 for me earlier on a course with a hill twice. Fastest Parkrun for about six months. Happy with that, was getting frustrated at being so slow.
Probably never did a long enough warm up, yesterday I did a longer warm up than my 3k race.

Just entered Fleet 5K in October. I think that’ll be the first 5K race I’ve ever entered! It’s apparently fast and flat so I’m going to as close to 20 as possible.
