I seem to be stuck in second gear at the moment 22.31 in summer when it was 21.14 in spring. Anyone else have issues with running slower in Summer

I think it's everyone HOD. Even the Kenyans do better in cool weather marathons.

I took part in a Cambridge University study at parkrun a few years back that showed that core body temperature was quite often the limiting factor at 5K for "moderately-trained, middle-aged runners", or some such unflattering phrase :-)

There was also a Birmingham University paper analyzing parkrun results with weather data which looked at temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and air pollution levels. That also found that higher temperatures produced slower times, but the effect was weaker than for wind speed.
