All ok forever, she's a Lab and had chewed some bark on the park the night before and then it came back.

mr d as they do 🙂
Club session tonight was very useful as 4 x 1km rep with 250 metres recovery. Temperature was 27 degrees though 🥴 but thankfully there was a breeze. Downhill out and uphill back. Paces between 4.10 and 4.22 but I did recover well.
Question. My garmin is usually set to mile pace. I am thinking of changing this to kms for parkrun this week. Does anyone find this more helpful ?

I generally change to km from miles if I'm racing a 5k (including parkrun) or 10k other than that I stay in miles.

I used to use miles pace and converted to km pace when I moved to Australia because that is what the locals use. I found it took quite a long time to get a real feel for what the equivalent paces were particularly at the faster and slower paced because the km paces are higher and lower than the equivalent min per mile paces at each end. (8min miles is the same as 5 min ks but 4 min ks is a lot faster than 7 minute miles). I do now like the shorter 'laps' and one advantage is getting slightly more information across each distance 4 intermediate splits on a 5k compared with on 2 mile splits (given there isn't anything you can do at 3 miles into a 5km race except run like hell)

Having grown up in SA I’ve always used km for pace. It’s taken a long time to get used to miles for distance and I’m now pretty comfortable with either, but pace is always km.
As njo says getting more regular feedback is a good thing. But it will take a bit of getting used to!

I use Kms for everything, the maths is much easier! It might take you a while to adapt though

I switched to kms last year To be able to have better chats with the family and its taken some determination to stick with it but I do prefer the simple maths and more frequent feedback....in doing a 5k it just makes sense

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to answer! Kms it will be on Saturday. It may be crazy but I am going to try and get as close to 4.15 as I can. He who dares and all that 😅
