a question for those familiar with the "future roster" editting capabilities on event websites. .... We have a stack of pacers. but the volunteer roster doesnt identify which pacer roles are taken (e.g. 30, 32, 35, etc). So it seems that there is toing and froing for pacer volunteers and the poor volunteer organiser. (e.g. I would like to volunteer for 35 or 40... answer = well those are taken but do you want 30 or 32? followed by another bit of banter - no, those are a bit fast, how about the 45 role etc. ...). any reason why the pacer roles cant be editted to show what is available just to make it easier for bother the volunteer organiser and those pondering?

You can add comments to the roster, that may help to track which pacer slots have been filled. They get printed out too.

We do that. But we have also used a Google Doc to which the pacer organiser has access.

Have just re-read your post and have realised that's not what you want. You want the volunteers to be able to see what's left.

Thanks both. I think from what you are saying this makes it easier from the organisers point of view but perhaps not from what the volunteer can actually see (unless I am misunderstanding you). Its the volunteer who then goes backwards and forwards with the guy filling the slots. What would help is if the volunteer roster showed "Pacer 35", "Pacer 40" etc. - I am wondering if the local parkrun has the ability to amend this or whether head office gives limited capability.

Sigh
The Hanley team use their Facebook feed to update the available pacer positions in the few days beforehand. Not ideal as not everyone can see it, but it seems to work for most.

We have posted a Facebook post showing the pacer times required with names next to those taken. It can then easily be edited. The other alternative is having a news item which you could edit?

Sigh
Had to scroll back to July to find an example:
Folks leave comments and then the team edit the original post as gaps are filled.
