Velociraptor
At the parkrun closest to me which has regular pacers, I think people who want to pace just turn up and rummage in the box of blue tabards for a time that suits them :)

Thats simple Velociraptor. we have 9 pacers and normally most if not are all filled in advance, but some are available occasionally on the day.

I wonder if they should fill in the times of each in advance (where the name is supposed to be) and then swap them out as they are filled. That might make it simple for both the volunteer coordinator and prospective pacers and cut down on the toing and froing. I will ask....

We have an issue. One of the scanners went home before sending the file. They used the app. Now he says:

My phone app says I need to turn off the airplane mode before exporting, which I have done but I still get that message.

Also tried turning the phone off and back on to no avail

Anyone had this before? Iphone

Yes you get that message but if airplane mode is already off, just click ok and the results will send anyway whether the message is there or not.

I did scanning this morning on an iPhone.

For Crosby's 200th parkrun, there were.... 200 finishers! :-o The superbly named Montgomery Barr [JM11-14] came home first in 18:41, 49 sec. outside his PB. 7 dogs finished the course.

Not sure if this link will work facebook.com but I think more parkruns should follow Goole's approach. It's definitely caused some debate.

Thanks for posting that FreshStart.

Before we moved house a few weeks ago, I was the volunteer coordinator for our local parkrun. We had pretty much the same problem as Goole. A hard core of volunteers who would volunteer week in week out. I was for ever putting out pleas via our database & Facebook page, but to be honest, I might as well have spoken to the wall.

We never cancelled though, but on some occasions, we had to ask volunteers to double up on duties i.e. marshal on the course & then come over to the finish line to scan barcodes.

I for one, am in agreement with what the core team at Goole have done. Good for them.
