Weath
That's good news about Beeston, but will it be able to cope itself with elevated numbers as it's a bit of a tight/busy course in places?

Only done Christmas at the Rec once and it is a fantastic atmosphere and probably better situated for my expected movements on the day, so will likely be there again this year.

Beeston's a bit of a faff for me to get to even though as the crow flies I am not a million miles away to the south. To get there across the Trent from home basically means a considerable detour whichever route I take.

A boat, Weath. What about a boat? A canoe perhaps, a small skiff, or an inflatable kayak. After all, what could go wrong?

Well it was said that a certain football manager who worked miracles around these parts could walk on the Trent. Maybe I could try to emulate something similar..? 😉

I was running on the Trent this weekend (set out form Long Eaton) and indeed there are very limited crossings. I have gone east and west on the rent and north on the Erewash Canal but would like to go south on the Soar.

Stornoway? I'm just waiting for an excuse to go to the Hebrides.

Touristing to Street parkrun this weekend, and possibly Ashton Court the following week.

Street looks like it will feel like home - 3 laps of a flat playing field and c. 200 runners.

We've had over 500 at Beeston, Weath, and regularly around 400 without too much difficulty. I think at Xmas people will be very considerate to any problems, the massive queues to cross the finish line at Forest Rec last year were good natured affairs. The main problem may be from parking, although you can park at various places and have a half mile warm up to the start.

In other news there was a practice parkrun at Wollaton Park last Sunday, about 65 runners and a best of 19 mins.

Goole parkrun is cancelled tomorrow because they didn't have enough volunteers by Thursday night! It's not an unreasonable cut-off, I don't like having to update the roster for Cleethorpes on a Friday night after a week at work.

Looking at their future roster, there are probably seven key roles that they need filling at any one event. Its an event of about 150 runners on average.

It's the usual deal, then. 3 volunteer stints a year on average from regular runners means that the event can go ahead without worry.

However, HQ have dropped that recommendation and they'll thank you very much for not mentioning it.

Hopefully them cancelling it will convince people to volunteer on future. Especially if it becomes a regular occurrence
