Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Just wish runners would understand they don't own the space when running parkrun. I was tailwalker yesterday and had a complaint from the member of the public, he was barged and subsequently pushed onto the road. No need for this behaviour at all and then we run the risk of losing our licence

I bring that particular point up every single briefing! I've even changed the way I do my briefing - started doing the rules before the milestones and tourists, because I've found that people listen more intently right at the beginning. It's not like I go on for hours...!

I would be surprised if that had happened without there having been something that caused the reaction. Doesn’t excuse the runner but I am pretty sure the complainer was not blame free either.

Looks like Newcastle now has 3 parkruns with starts within 1.7m of each other as Jesmond Dene started this weekend. Spoiled for choice if you live round there!

Running 3 abreast caused it.

DeeGee, we’ve often listened to (or struggled to hear) briefings and thought the safety and rules bit should be first.

Just treat parkrunners like children. A big BIG noise (I did a loud wolf whistle to shut everybody up when RD was talking - and I was only a runner, not even a marshal!) and then a "This only takes 2 mins of your life. If you don't shut up and listen to this, we're not having a run. SHUT. IT." Then get on with your briefing! But do keep it short, to the point and LOUD! :-) G

larkim, I did Jesmond Dene on Saturday, it was beautiful! It is nice to have so many options in Newcastle now.

Local parkrun cancelled this morning at short notice. I went down anyway (as part of the core team) to inform any runners that turned up of the news. About 40 runners did turn up and most decided to run the course anyway and we agreed to run the course the reverse way round. No flags, no orange vests, no barcodes - just a lovely run in a park.
