A 2.48 In A virtual run should be a few minutes faster in race conditions brunski. Just depends if you can find the time to put the miles in and do a structured plan.

I agree AJLB, I can nearly get my head around being fit enough to run a shade over 6 minute miles for a marathon (in the super shoes of course), but the idea of holding 5:30s for a HM seems miles harder, despite arguably being more suited to speed than endurance. Chris - I was just starting to think I might make the old Champs times but they've gone abd shifted them. |

Never ran either of the times, but ran 76.19 for a half last year and was arguably on for 2.42/3ish in my marathon had it happened. But I can't imagine running 72.30, whereas 2.40 feels more achievable. Maybe they are both as possible as each other, but the mental side of it makes the half seem unachievable. |

If you look up the age gradings for the championship times there's quite a difference trying to achieve the half vs full marathon time Also highlights that the ladies can get in with a softer age graded time, but that's to try to attract similar numbers of each I believe. |

My half PB is 1.13 and full is 2.40 but never equated that well to a full mara. Id say the half is harder

76:45 pb half for me, and 2:42:15 full. There is no danger I would ever run a 72:30 half, but sub 2:40 I think is achievable with a good training bloc. They must make the half times a lot harder to weed out those that don't transition well to a full marathon - because even on a bad day a 72:30 half runner could run a sub 2:40 full. |

Safe to say I will never be on the champs start again. Half PB is 75:52 and marathon is 2:43:xx. I feel like I might have been able to do 2:40 a few years ago if I had got things right, but feels way off for me now at 42 years old. Although there are some notables on here who continue to pull out phenomenal performances well beyond that!

If they stick to 2:40 that certainly saves me the effort of ever trying again. A pity the vet champs is run during a separate event, else they might give more generous WAVA/GFA style thresholds for us oldies!
