Tragic Lammo, read about this not long after it happened. I've no idea what happened to Tash and I'm not speculating either, but it reminded me of a mate who always runs with his back to traffic. His only valid reason is that you are visible on right hand bends. I no longer run with him on the roads. I, personally, think it's too dangerous. Always face the oncoming traffic then you have a better chance of moving out of the way. By all means, and when it's safe, move to the left hand side of the road for a blind right hand bend, but always face traffic otherwise. Stay safe, Tash was a highly experienced runner and I am sure totally road sensible, so this seems an awful tragedy. |

Yes, the highway code says: "If there is no pavement, keep to the right-hand side of the road so that you can see oncoming traffic. You should take extra care and be prepared to walk in single file, especially on narrow roads or in poor light keep close to the side of the road. It may be safer to cross the road well before a sharp right-hand bend so that oncoming traffic has a better chance of seeing you. Cross back after the bend." which is what I tend to follow as a runner (sometimes rather than crossing for a bend I just run wide to give longer sight lines). Visibility round here is usually good and the lanes are slow enough I have never had a problem. |

One of the things I've found in decades as a cyclist is that you can do everything right, precautions, hi-viz, whatever, and still encounter the careless/homicidal driver who will wipe you out.

The most eagerly awaited Elite marathon (and half marathon) results will be appearing here: runcheshire.niftyentries.com Apparently they are doing a live stream, not found the link yet Couldn't be better set up for quick times, am expecting PBs everywhere. |

Live feed working great, the live timing has gone down (probably due to high site traffic)
