I love your ambition Charles! Picking the target is the stuff of nightmares - we all know that 2 minutes too fast at halfway could spell 10-15 minutes too slow by the end, but 2 minutes too slow at halfway could mean you finish thinking 4 or 5 minutes overall have been lost to caution. I started out thinking 3:15 was my London target, but things have been going well so far so might stretch myself to 3:10. But I'm waiting to see what the weather gods bring. A warm April day and I'll be more than happy to set off for a 3:30 rather than destroy myself for conditions that I'm just not suited to. |

Am I right in remembering that to pick up the number, we just need ID (passport) and probably an email from London Marathon (yet to be received)? Do we need anything else? I’m away from home before the event so I’m just checking what is required.

I’ll be at the CARE cheer point on The Highway (A1203) in Wapping so will see runners on the far side of the dual carriageway at around the 14 mile mark and on our side of the duel carriageway at around the 22 mile mark. What do supporters do or say that helps at this point in a marathon? Around 22 miles I figure is when things can really start to go wrong. I’ll try to acquaint myself with Fetchies running! |

That’s pretty much where we usually are for Fetchpoint, if I make it down I’ll look out for you

Big_G yep, that will do it. Last year “the” email contained the following info: “Collecting your Event Pack You'll need to show your QR code below (on a mobile device or printout) and photo ID to collect your Event Pack from the TCS London Marathon Running Show at ExCeL London. You’ll find out your bib number when you collect your Event Pack!” |

Hmmm getting close I had 3 weeks off with an Achilles injury but otherwise have gone pretty well. 1:30:20 half last Sunday so 3:15 should be on but stretch target definitely 3:10. Will try my usual plan of first 6 miles slowest, middle 14 at race pace, final 6 quickest. That plan always works well for me. I’ll also tune the crowd out until Tower Bridge so the noise is fresh and motivating for the second half. Hope it bloody warms up by the race…. |

Hope it bloody warms up by the race…. Absolutely not! I'm praying for a late April cold snap. |
