That's great. Perfectly suited for combining them with Maurten gels.

Apparently they had some issues mixing faster and slower runners after the start in last year's race.
I hope this was due to Covid measures and I hope it won't be like that in 2023.

I *think* I’m able to pop down to spectate this year after all :)
It’s mum’s birthday, be she said it was my sister’s turn to take her out for once …

We’ll see, but am excited by the thought of Fetchpoint, even if it’s only a little one :)

No Fetchpoint for me this year I’m afraid - it’s the twins’ birthday weekend and Girl is definitely going to be coming home

I think the mixing of speeds the last couple of years has been largely due to hosting the world masters championship thing, which they aren't doing this year. Nice to have an extra medal but glad it's gone, it was a mess! There weren't any anti-Covid measures to speak of last year. I think there might also have been an error with some start-lines beginning significantly late, so when they merged there was an obvious difference in speeds. Hopefully won't be repeated!

There was this from last October about the mixing of faster and slower runners.

Race director Hugh Brasher said: “Our sincere apologies to the club runners who were placed in the wrong start wave on the Red Start which meant they started behind slower runners. This was due to human error in the seeding process. We have reviewed what happened and we’re putting in place a process which means this should never happen again.”

A month today....

Not trying to get ahead of myself, but when do runners normally find out details of starting pens / starting times etc?

Thanks v'rap! Wonder if they'll try to get ahead of the Easter weekend? Just want to get some logistics well planned!

About This Thread

Maintained by Kirsty
After getting lucky in the ballot yesterday, I couldn’t find a thread, so thought I’d start one. Bit of background: I ran 7 marathons (2 London, 2002 and 2006) between 2002 and 2016, fastest 4:06, slowest 5:09. Major health issues in 2017 and 2019 and I felt that my marathon days were over, but I kept entering the ballot, safe in the knowledge I wouldn’t get in - and now I have! I am probably looking at walking the whole way, or possibly jeffing. I’m very excited and very nervous!
