For info, I just looked back and see that I received last year’s “registration pack” email on 24/9, for the race on 2/10.

“This email contains everything you need to collect your Event Pack from the TCS London Marathon Running Show at ExCeL London and your Start arrival time and travel information for Marathon Day.” Etc.

Thanks SS. Not much notice then! You'd have thought with the lead time they have for all of the info that it would be good to go sooner than that. Not that it really is that complex for me, I just like to know (and be able to tell my better half what I know too).

Just clocked that the govt test of the emergency alert system on mobiles is scheduled for 23rd April...

Might be some interesting confusion mid marathon!

They (VLM) should probably make an announcement about that or it could cause absolute confusion/crowd crushes etc...

Aha, panic over - it's going to be "in the early evening".

Fragile Do Not Bend
That’s good, I was imagining running along and suddenly hundreds of phones around me going off at the same time.

Lol, I did think the mid-race comment was a bit of a negative viewpoint, for most.
I was just a bit put out when I saw the news story and realised it coincided with LM as I thought I would be back in the hotel trying to recover (nap) when everyone's phones will start screaming, can't wait!

More to the point the back of the pack could still be out on course and maybe they are more likely to be carrying their phones (?), that or a nasty din from the baggage trucks so still hopefully we will be reminded beforehand.

I spoke to my trainer yesterday.
I'm going for sub 3:10.

But no sandbagging here, I'm convinced 3:05 is in the cards.

About This Thread

Maintained by Kirsty
After getting lucky in the ballot yesterday, I couldn’t find a thread, so thought I’d start one. Bit of background: I ran 7 marathons (2 London, 2002 and 2006) between 2002 and 2016, fastest 4:06, slowest 5:09. Major health issues in 2017 and 2019 and I felt that my marathon days were over, but I kept entering the ballot, safe in the knowledge I wouldn’t get in - and now I have! I am probably looking at walking the whole way, or possibly jeffing. I’m very excited and very nervous!
