Gel packets that weren’t empty were the worst for stepping on - felt like a slug!

Regarding water bottles we were actualy told many times at the start to "drink and drop" because the whole course would be cleared. I think (or assumed) this applied to gel packets too.

Fragile Do Not Bend
The ‘drop’ part was ‘drop in a waste bag’.

I did turn my ankle at about 8 miles on a dropped bottle! It's a bit sore today (but lost in the wider soreness!)

It was a great day out and I love all the stories that come out afterwards. One small negative though, from my point of view, is that the goody bag was poor. Expo bag was basically just the race number and pins, and finish bag was the shirt, a couple of drinks and a flapjack. I know we don’t run the race for this, but what do others think? Am I being harsh?

I have the Boston goody bag as a recent comparison in mind, which was decent. A very nice long sleeved shirt, a nice bottle opener from a sponsor, 2 car stickers, 1 badge, 1 pin badge as well as different drinks and other items. This was in the expo bag, and then the finish bag consisted of other drinks and some snacks.

I was happy with the T-shirt, drinks and flapjack (which was huge :) ).

The thing I would have liked most was a T-shirt in a ladies fit as mine is nearly a dress, but I can understand why they don’t want to have too many different shirts and I’m still going to wear mine.

What’s the entry price for Boston? I assume you are paying for those extras through that?

I’m not bothered about goodie bags but would like a women specific t-shirt. The small is like a mini dress in me. :)

About This Thread

Maintained by Kirsty
After getting lucky in the ballot yesterday, I couldn’t find a thread, so thought I’d start one. Bit of background: I ran 7 marathons (2 London, 2002 and 2006) between 2002 and 2016, fastest 4:06, slowest 5:09. Major health issues in 2017 and 2019 and I felt that my marathon days were over, but I kept entering the ballot, safe in the knowledge I wouldn’t get in - and now I have! I am probably looking at walking the whole way, or possibly jeffing. I’m very excited and very nervous!
