We are complete opposites with the lateral lunges, Linds. They're just about the only exercise I actively ENJOY. I quite like deadlifts but lateral lunges with a weight have that added stretch element which is nice. Deadlifts are supposed to stretch the hammies but even though I drop right to the floor and have pretty much straight legs I don't really get the stretch. Like just about everyone I don't much like front and back normal lunges. Have to use enough weight to make them count.... and then of course they're HARD. Especially as Caroline wants so many. I also quite like curtsey lunges sometimes called skater lunges - but not as much as doing something in a wide second (get me!) |

I don't dislike them, I was just reallly surprised at my lack of flexibility. It's never happened before.

Several of you have read my last blog so will know I did IRON round 3, day 10 yesterday. It's back and biceps and my arms are pretty DOMSy today. As I said there I reckon 2 sessions a week will be enough to maintain and even gain - with two provisos: 1. I keep the same strength, power and mobility going in my 'other' activities (dance and athletics) 2. I challenge myself enough in the two sessions I DO do. In other words no just going through the motions, no dropping and exercise or cheating cos I'm not keen. |

LindsD ok, I get you. I wonder if it's because you've done quite a lot recently but it's mainly been running -very much just forward movement (there's a proper term but it deserts me) If you were flexible enough before, you'll get it back. |

That could be it. And yes, it will come back.

The sagittal plane! That's what pops up in my head from movement study days. Climbing is a bit more varied I think?

Keeping to my two sessions a week. Monday was before my ballet class and today was after a morning Contemporary. I was pleased to mainly up the weights from last time again. Have blogged if you want details. Basically it's two mins of goblet squats then half a million variegated lunges, then some no stop weighted calf raises and a finisher of more bloody lunges - body weight this time. We spent a lot of time investigating and doing calf raises in class today - so I'm deffo calf raised out. However I HAVE to say my calf raises are better than Caroline's. Smug or WHAT? x |

LindsD I know you've climbed twice this week (deffo strength) and run too but might you be able to squeeze in another session before next Tuesday? xxx
