Elsie Too. Just looked online and you're right they do only show 2kg. It was only couple month back I bought mine so maybe they've stopped selling them. If that's the case and they have old stock in store they might be a bargain. 🤔

Certainly worth a punt - I'll figure out where there is one and see if I can pop in and check.

I am itching to do day 3 but as I have a 10k race Sunday will do no more this week. Probably for the best as I still have some butt DOMS and also some in my pecs from day 2.

Elsie Too I think that the 2 weights of that dumbbell at £999 are out of stock anyway 😄.

I don't want adjustable weight dumbbells I want sets, preferably those nice coloured ones so can swap easily between weights when needed.

I didn't look in my local Asda, online they just showed one set. Maybe it's most likely to be January when the supermarkets are likely to stock them.

Yeah, I’m not sure about the adjustable ones. Could be a pain when wanting to swap between weights in a session.

Adjustable are great when you need one weight, it’s a pain swapping between sessions and more so when I need a chair that won’t fit in the tiny space in the garage.

Also on overhead pullovers I cannot get my hands side by side and even doing single weight squats it’s hard. Hence me thinking I want a pair (or single?) dumbbell for these exercises - I thought kettlebell but I don’t think it would work for overhead things.

I use my 8kg kettlebell for overhead pullovers and for goblet squats in London where I don’t have any DBs above 7kg. But I do struggle with getting the double hand grip right - mind you that’s the same with the 8 or 10kg DB in Hastings. I’ve checked how Caroline is holding - but either she’s got wider spindled DBs … or daintier hands than my admittedly massive ones.

Facebook marketplace is always a good place to look for weights, they definitely fall into the stuff that folk buy then never use category.

I picked up (literally 🤣) a 12kg and 16kg cast iron kettlebell for £10 a piece on there.

I use the kettlebell too for overhead pullovers. I used to do KB classes, the trick is to turn the kettlebell the other way round so the weight is at the top, feels very secure that way.

About This Thread

Maintained by Sharkie
Caroline Girvan - tiny but tough, sweet but strong.

Here's a thread rather in the manner of the Shred craze that swept Fetchland some years ago, or perhaps more recently (and less bossily) Adriene's 30 Days of Yoga each year. I found Caroline Girvan via geordiegirl (ta, GG!) and am well impressed with her workouts. I'm currently on Day 27 of her 30 day Iron Series and have STUCK TO IT. Wonders will never cease, I was beginning to despair of the likelihood of me getting any sort...
