Ran a 4:29.6 1500m easing down as I was racing for position (track league) not time for a 0.9 sec PB. I had no idea what time I was running as focused on the race for position, was third B counter and with 1300 to go I was in position to strike for second, unfortunately legs didn't respond and gap opened a little at from there to 1400m and my sprint wasn't making an impact so shut down (pace chart clearly shows the shut down). Guy in front ran 4:24 so in a sense it's exciting to know I was there with 1300 to go.

30 mins later 17:35.6 for 5000m, plan was 84s for 17:30. Was lonely and warm and hard in the middle. As I was guesting and just doing it for training, I did think what's the point at some points, lol. But held it together and finished well. Took splits as was not racing so will post up later.

I enjoyed the 1500 it was nice to just race without concern for time. Need to get on to those 3 x 300s so I'm stronger at the end.

The 5000, although aerobically fine, was hard work with the 1500m in the legs as there was little motivation to hurt given I wasn't really racing and I was isolated. Picked off a few that went out too hard but never ran with anyone.

Previously when I've doubled, a PB was still possible as I'd never done a 5000m on its own, but those days are over I think.

May go for 5000 PB in June.

Looks like good running there, SPR. 5000m half an hour after a hard 1500m has to be seriously tough.

Good work SPR. I'm melting in this heat, HR through the roof and struggling to maintain any speed!

Great racing Uyuni and SPR - nice to see!

I am running my first 5000 tomorrow night. Easier run today but otherwise no taper just swapping in for the session. I am hoping to hang on to 71s laps, may not quite have the legs to see that all the way through at this stage but hopefully the sub 15 is on!

Then it's all about going under the elusive 31 barrier at Highgate the following week just got to dig deep.
