That is impressive Hillstrider, doing a 9 mile run the day after a 10k - chapeau. Sorry to hear about Sarah H's accident and the resulting injuries. Having done a fast walk early on and a more leisurely walk with the coffee and chat ladies, I kept going after lunch and have cut the lawns. Having a rest now! Off for a ramble with the u3a tomorrow morning, by which time I should have recovered It's a ramble with a difference - a quick ride on the local steam train, then we're hopping off and walking back to the station where we hopped on. It's going to be a hot day so I shall have my platypus with me, with lots of water. And my sunhat of course and with plenty of sun-cream applied before we set off. |

Hope the ramble went well WtnMel and not too hot. Welcome aboard Aquarius. Did you do the 5k? I'm guess it was the Tynemouth to Whitley club race? I'm running easy after the weekend track races. And off to Keswick tomorrow. We are planning to do Muncaster Castle parkrun on Saturday which is quite exciting. |

WtnMel, thanks. Well done for mowing the lawns, good cross training. I hope that you enjoy today's ramble with the u3a gang. Sounds good, the inclusion of a ride on a steam train 🚂 0061, how did the track races go? Good luck with Saturdays Muncaster Castle parkrun. Just the usual Tuesday Farmers Walk this morning. I actually tracked it with my garmin, for the first time, and the average pace for there and back was 17.01 minute/miling. The return with the bags was obviously slower. |

Morning all HS I'm suitably humbled by your 9 mile run the day after the 10k, you're obviously in very good form at the moment (although I think you always are). Sorry to hear about Sarah H's accident, I imagine it would have been very painful. WtnMel Looks like you had a very busy day yesterday (bonus points for getting the lawns done). I hope it's not too hot for you today on your ramble, but it sounds like you're well prepared for it. Starting on a steam train makes a nice way to begin the walk, hope it turns out to be as good as it sounds. 0061 I had to look up Muncaster Castle parkrun to see where it was, looks like it will be an early start for you on Saturday! It was the Anita Nott ladies race at Jesmond Dene that I'd intended doing last night, one I've never got around to doing before, and still haven't. It was too hot for me to sit in the garden never mind run. I'm really pathetic in the heat, it doesn't agree with me at all. To make up for bailing out I went for a run this morning, but although it wasn't quite as hot I had to walk in places (no energy) and ended up cutting the run short by 2 miles. |

It was a bit too warm for this morning's ramble - I had plenty of water with me but still feel a bit washed out though after a rest and several cups of tea. Anyway, it was good fun to be on the steam train (only for 10 minutes though) and various photos were taken beside the engine before we set off. @Aquarius - the lawns hadn't grown too much, so it was a bit easier and quicker than last time. As mentioned above, the ramble was good fun. Shame you had to cut your run short, but not surprised given the heat. Some of the u3a ramblers were wilting in the heat, even though it was no more than 3.5mls - every chance they got, they were diving for cover in the shade. |

The track races went well hillstrider, I'm slowly getting my speed back after the marathon season. We'll be driving from Keswick Aquarius so about an hours drive Muncaster. It's a shame you missed the 5km yesterday evening Aquarius was indeed very hot. Its much cooler in Keswick today, but still busy with tourists. Glad you enjoyed the steam train WtnMel, and the hot ramble. |

Managed to get out for another early (7am) fast 3.5ml walk this morning - nice and cool compared to yesterday's mid-morning ramble! I should be easy to spot in the photos people took yesterday as I was wearing a bright red polo shirt. Luckily, there were no bulls around, just some cows. The funniest moment? When our leader Sue was busy cutting back brambles from a stile she had previously mentioned was overgrown. I had wandered over to the five-bar gate alongside the stile and found I was able to open the chain holding it shut, just as Sue finished the pruning and announced we were okay to use the stile |

Well done WtnMel for this mornings fast 3.5 miles walk. That is quite amusing that Sue hadn't realised that there was a 5 bar gate aside the stile, that was easily opened. We always check both when running, especially, as you may remember, a few years ago, I fell off a gate hurting my back, shoulder and arm. I've been very nervous every since, so avoid a climb wherever possible. A 6 miles run this morning with Mike, including 5 hill reps up "The Tyrol." I won't be running tomorrow, as I'm off to the Isle of Wight with my sister to meet up with our cousins for a pub lunch. Thankfully, it's forecast to be a shade cooler tomorrow 😎 |

Aquarius, thanks. Sarah H is feeling much better now, and her dentist has made an appointment for her to have a filling in the chipped tooth. Well done for getting out for a run yesterday morning. |
