Re the above comments .. I just figured we could start with a thread for the 'RW Mature Runners' refugees (only a handful of us tbh) who are used to chatting to each other. They can discover new threads and start posting in there instead if they wish. This may just be a 'holding' area until we all find our feet again - time will tell. |

It's been a frustrating six weeks or so (problem with my back; a bad reaction to a shingles jab; problem with my left foot; problem with big toe on the right foot) but this morning, I finally managed to get out for an early brisk walk (16mm pace). Hopefully the various niggles will stay away and I can get back into the early walk groove. In other news .. after my week's walking holiday in Shropshire, I have several bruised toes with the nails going a dark colour. It's just like being a runner again |

Sorry to read of your problems hope they ease soon. That's a brisk walk I'd have a job keeping up with you |

I think I'm doing reasonably well with my pace and then she comes past me like roadrunner - but with a cheery 'good morning' rather than 'meep meep' |

WtnMel I hope the problems settle quickly. I am not sure that I belong here. I have never posted on RW; I would not describe myself as mature despite age 78; I am not currently running and my GP says I will never run again. I do continue to post on the two O 60’s threads. I look forward to seeing how those threads for ‘O60’ and this thread for ‘mature runners’ take shape over time, before deciding which one should be my ‘home’. |

I'm sorry to hear that your back, foot and shingles reaction are still causing problems Mel, but well done for this mornings brisk walk. That's an impressive pace. I hope that you enjoyed your walking holiday, despite the bruised toes. Have you got any golf matches lined up with Alan? Welcome to the thread Night-owl. This morning was a good pace hilly road 5.22 miles, with Sarah H and Mike. |

You definitely belong on here Canute, I'm also 78, but thankfully I'm still actively running and parkrun most Saturdays. I've got a 10k road race on Sunday. I also post on the 1000 miles in 12 months thread, Wordle, etc.

HS - I hope the various assorted niggles now stay away. I don't have any golf lined up with Alan at the moment - can't play this week, so maybe next week? Well done re your 5ml run with Sarah H and Mike. The walking holiday was great apart from toes getting bruised (from me trying various new combinations of toe protectors and cushioned socks).
