Agreed Chrisull, it was an anti Corbyn, Anti poor Brexit leadership by Corbyn, and a pro Brexit vote.

The predictable claims of mandates have started a pace.

Anyone care to explain how 44% of people who chose to vote and voted Tory is a majority view?

First passed the post system delivers it as a winner of course, that’s not disputed.

Sorry, but I am back out of thread. Had hoped a more reasoned approach may be held within the land of Fetch.
However like other social media and out in the regular world rather than try to understand views of people different to ours many/most seem to take an approach of attack, ridicule, name calling.
Reflects poorly on us all as a society and seems to mirror the awful behaviour of our politicians in parliament for many years.

:-( :-( :-(

I hope one day as an online community and as part of the wider public we can learn and be more civil and understanding to all even of we disagree with their stance.

Love to all.
Bye

DV, we all know you are Stander, it's obvious so stop pretending.

Also, I don't know if you've looked outside, but it's grey and it's raining.

simbil - First past the post in Scotland sees 18% Labour - 1 seat vs 9% Lib dems - 4 seats. Enough said.

HT - sorry you feel this way. I've looked back over the last 5 pages and not seen anything remotely poor from people. Is there something specific someone has said?

Dio - I don't think DV is stander. I think DV is a new poster. Sorry DV for talking about you in front of you.

What makes me despair with this result, almost more than the appalling result itself, is that it shows how massive, industrial scale lying now wins elections. Previously a politician might worry about being caught out in a single lie. But now they know it doesn't matter at all, in fact the more lies you tell, and the more egregious those lies, the more people get behind you. It helps, of course, that the majority of the press were helping out, repeating the lies rather than calling them out.

I would absolutely hate 'my' side to adopt this approach themselves. But I really don't see how an election can ever be won again against these forces, unless people somehow learn to see how they are being lied to, and I don't see that happening.

The one thing that does give me hope is that the Conservatives now have nowhere to hide. They have hitherto concentrated entirely on winning, saying and doing whatever was necessary, however fatuous and contradictory, to ensure that Remain was defeated and the Tories held onto and increased power. But now they have won, comprehensively, and Remain is no more, and the Government will have to focus instead on policies - and I don't really believe it has any, at least not any properly thought-out ones. Its enemy is now reality rather than Remain. Let's see how it does against that.

Simbil beat me too it. You can’t claim it’s a majority view when only 44% of voters chose to vote Tory. I’ll even give you Brexit Party and UKIP and it’s still not a majority.

Name-calling will be called out, and Ad hominem will be frowned upon. :-) And whatabout-ery sits somewhere above responding to tone and below contradiction.
