Not at all saying that what you say about Germany is incorrect, fozzy, because I don't have the data and I haven't read the links, but I'm struggling to imagine a working environment/conditions that is/are worse than in the UK now, certainly at my institution and those like it. Aware that this is not hard data, although the results from our wellbeing survey certainly are hard data.

LindsD - my understanding is that a permanent role is something extremely difficult to obtain.
This is what my German colleagues tell me
