Holyrood is fun.
Lyme Park was fun today, though I hated the start; too uneven for me, not helped by starting a little too far back. And then messing up my watch press so I didn't have the data to tell me how far we were on the course.
But it is lovely as a course, and we enjoyed a free NT day out in the park and gardens to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary to boot.

Lyme Park is one of my favourite parkruns anywhere - more like a mini fell race than a parkrun! It's also not far from where I grew up, just about walkable if we wanted a full day out in the holidays as feral kids, and has a very sentimental attachment to the family too as we scattered my Dad's ashes in view of the course as he was a keen parkrunner himself.
It's particularly amazing in full snow cover - the Winter course starts where you finish, heads back out along the course in reverse to the Cage and then turns back and heads to the finish. Highly recommended if you like hills in Winter

Lyme Park takes me back to my youth and the venue for the North of England Schools Cross Country.

Only just seen this thread, so my check in is a few weeks late.
Did Aberbeeg parkrun in south Wales a few weeks ago. Not sure if many on here have.
I think it was quite high up in the "fastest" courses list of 2022, but dropped about 60 places last year.
I can see how it could be fast, but I you'd certainly need to be up for it, fresh, and know the elevations.
It's basically a cycle path where a railway once was apparently. The first half climbs somewhere between 120-140 feet, then you turn round at a cone and romp back down.
I'd done the Murder Mile 680 feet climb race the night before and 5hours of driving, plus hadn't appreciated the "Up" of the first half.
There's easy parking near by and a nice little cafe next to it that dishes out tea and toast. Small event, about 60-80 sort of fare most weeks.

Can't believe they managed to get such a flat parkrun in that valley, I agree the cafe is brill!
