They updated the app last weekend with runs confirming they’re on or might be & the ones that aren’t. Hi, going back a bit but could you let me know what app this is regarding Xmas and New Year runs? Is it the 5K app? If so, where is it in there as I couldn’t see it. |

Yes, it's in the 5k app in the planner section I think. There's some weird and wonderful colour coding in there which I don't quite understand. But chunky's link is better and clearer! |

We have some school and DoE volunteers Pothunter but usually most of them are only good for marshaling. The ones we have at the moment often don't turn up so I couldn't rely on them alone.

That’s sad Linda. We have 6x DoE and they are all really good on all roles and it is a great start to filling the roster each week.

It is a shame. At least DofE volunteers need to turn up to get it all signed off. We’ve been really lucky with ours and have a few who’ve stuck around after finishing their set period. One of our neighbouring parkruns (less that 3 miles away) however hasn’t had any luck recruiting DofE.

Our DofE policy (that they have to commit to before they start) states they must do a whole variety of roles up to First Timers Briefing and, optionally, finishing as shadow RD. They also are required to let us know in advance which weeks they can do and which weeks they will have a parent with them (as required for some of the roles). I think we have 8 of them signed up at the moment which is our limit. Going forward we are also thinking of introducing a requirement that they must have run or walked our parkrun at least once before starting.

We try to encourage them to do other roles at junior pr, but often they don't want to. Not yet had one who has gone on to be RD but might raise with the core team for future ones.

That's a good idea Dibble. We don't currently ask that of our DofEs but we do now have a rule that a tailwalker must have walked or run the course once before taking that role. However if a DofE student tailwalked alongside a parent who had completed the course but the student hadn't I suspect we would allow that (at least I would do if I was RD as the rule is to ensure that should there be an issue the tail knows a) where the course goes and b) where the nearest marshal is to whatever point on the course an issue occurs)
