I don’t see that it’s your fault, Linds, I also don’t think it’s necessarily reasonable that a RD should manage and coordinate three separare methods of communication for volunteer recruitment - particularly as only one of those - email - is required for signing up to parkrun, and is also the one used to communicate results / newsletters etc.

You can also see by looking at a parkrun run and look at the volunteers/future rota and see what hasn’t been filled.

Some parkruns (probably all the ones local to me I keep an eye on) are appealing for volunteers most weeks on FB - or sometimes saying that all essential roles have been filled. So people look there for info, and it generally works. I did notice that Northala Fields rarely post anything, so people probably don't look. (I don't know that any use Twitter. And many don't use their own news pages much.) |

Well said LG. And we obviously mention it every week in the briefing and always say you can't have parkrun without volunteers.

Sympathy with LindsD as an ED we are appealing almost every week. We have come very close to cancelling several times. We use emails an FB as well as run brief: so frustrating at times.

Also the quirks of Facebook algorithms mean that posts aren’t always visible to FB users I think, then there’s the assumption that the Parkrunner even has a FB account and then follows the Parkrun page.

Thank you all. We do also appeal during the briefing. Apparently around 50 people turned up and everyone was pleasant.

Apparently around 50 people turned up and everyone was pleasant. Pleased for you, LindsD, that there was no unpleasantness. |
