Why on earth would I give money to parkrun rather than directly buy something useful for our local parkrun?

Here is an idea, how about saving the thousands spent on t-shirts if they are that desperate for cash?

Record turnout of 544 at Fountains Abbey today. Very very windy but bright sunny morning. Felt like I was going backwards on the uphill finish straight section.

I'd not be inclined to give to a general pot over a donation to my local run. I do have a 'difference of opinion' over a lot of the 'guff' (technical term :) ) coming out of HQ lately but while my local run remains the same as ever on the ground week to week I'm more than happy to donate to that.

Did you not be able to donate and something like 50% to your chosen run and 50% to the central funds ?

Record of 867 at Edinburgh on Christmas Day and I would wager that it may have been close again today with a big turnout. A double funnel was introduced. So was a quite Brutal wind added to the equation making it my 2nd slowest parkrun of all time. It was #99 though and #100 will be NYF at Portobello :-)

Merry Fizzmas :-)
You can still give to a chosen run, on the “more info” tab, I think.

Slightly lower numbers at Keswick today than on Christmas Day (though still quite enough), but a massive-for-there turnout up the hill at Whinlatter - 153. That's about four times as many as turn up some weeks.

Lovely day for some trail running. I managed to squeak a new season's best for the course.

121 at Prospect today compared with 124 on Christmas Day, steeling ourselves for greater numbers on NYD!

The RD and myself are running at Dinton at 8:30 then dashing back across town to get our set-up underway in time for a 10:30 start. I'm going to have to run a bit quicker than I have been recently to make this work without stress. Though, if we get stuck in traffic I guess they're all going to have to wait a while :-)

You'll be fine, Goofee.* Strathclyde/ Tollcross have a NYDD with a two hour gap and the Tollcross team afaik always run Strathclyde (some people run between - not core team maybe but I think volunteers have).

*not having checked your distance, mind. Strathclyde-Tollcross is around eight miles in transit, the road is mostly motorway.

Falkirk was nice, blue skies partially and also quite windy. Numbers about 20% down on Christmas day and times quite down across the piece especially at the fast end. Although there is a localish 10K on today. FFF afaik was pushing a buggy.
