I don't think charging for the t-shirts would solve the supply problem. I think parkrun should get rid of the 10 t-shirts for juniors (juniors should start on 25 or 50) and the 50 t-shirts for adults (adults should start on 100). |

Why wouldn't it? i reckon at the moment TribeSports are trying to spread the cost evenly throughout their deal. With income coming in they could increase the order size and bring the backlog down. The trouble with stopping doing some shirts is it might upset some people who are close to a milestone. I know they are not owed anything but by adding a cost if they still want the status symbol then they can have it. |

It would be a shame to lose the 10 for kids, it's a great motivation.

I think asking for a "suggested donation of £x" would still cover their policy of free for everyone. WW thinks money probably isn't the heart of the issue, the order is just too small to give them any significant purchasing power at the factories. |

For me the park run t-shirts have kept me motivated to keep running through years of cancer treatments I hope they don't withdraw them I still have 125 runs to go before my next one I would rather pay for one of those than an apricot shirt

I sometimes think people expect too much. Adidas couldn't manage to fulfil the orders for milestone shirts and at a lot lower numbers and they are a massive company. Tribesports by comparison are tiny, it's all very well and good to say that they should order more but that shows a lack of awareness of business and inventory IMO. In the tribesports order they will also have to cover their orders for other stock that they can actually make money on and which cover their loss-leader outlay on the parkrun shirts. As the shirts are free any inventory ordered and held is just a drain on their finances. It's also very difficult to predict the size distribution that they will require (They could have helped themselves out here by allowing people to request/specify sizes in advance). I do believe that the free milestone shirts will end at some point soon, partly due to the difficulty/cost in fulfilling the order numbers and partly due to the negative image that not being able to match demand creates on the more visible social media platforms. On a wider point I have a growing feeling that parkrun is becoming in danger of collapsing under it's own weight. It's becoming ever more corporate with its communications and the sheer size of some events are going to enforce more Little Stoke type closures as venues can't cope with the traffic generated. The results systems and websites can't cope on a Saturday morning and the new systems we have been promised have not appeared |

They have no plans in the foreseeable future to end the milestone teeshirts and are looking for solutions to the supply problem.

I know we like to think about t-shirts and the supply problem being "big". But week in, week out there are events and races getting hold of large volumes of t-shirts for race events custom printed and distributed. GNR or VLM get hold of in excess of 40,000 each annually, the big marathon festivals get upward of 30,000 with varying iterations of designs etc etc. In the context of a t-shirt order, the amount parkrun is getting hold of is not actually that significant. Now it could be that they are more price sensitive than the big events, for whom the cost of the t-shirt is simply passed on (with a markup) to the runners, so perhaps they end up down the priority list at the printing and manufacturing sites. But equally the bigger drain is the individualised distribution mechanism, though with a company like Wiggle completing that you'd have thought that they had that covered off. I'm not complaining - they are free after all, and it isn't the biggest deal in the world. There are about 32,000 100 club members currently and 70,000 50 club members (from looking at the pages on parkrun - I'm assuming those pages are correct - e.g. parkrun.com ). Those aren't earth shattering volumes of t-shirts. |
