GH, your shirt looks the same material as my r250 shirt and it’s been fine for me (no sparks!)
I’ve volunteered for the weekend which should put me v227 I think (not that I’m counting )

Jen that sounds really interesting. I trained as guide runner and got lots of good experience with visually impaired runners at parkrun.

Wow - never knew there were now club tshirts for making it happen at 50 and 100.
Something else to see people run in so that others can tell them they are wonderful
(Knew about the 25 - people running in them was how I found out)

I think the new volunteer shirts are good to highlight to the masses how much some people help out. Hopefully it will inspire some people to try volunteering so that the pool of volunteers can grow.
If you look at our opted-in for email people 40% have never volunteered and 5% have volunteered over 25 times. It would be nice to even that up a bit.

Quick review of the royal parks half.
Just enjoyed a good stay in the capital, Train on Saturday, direct Harrogate to kings X. walk to hotel just off Westminster bridge. Arrived late to get in correct colour start wave, a bit hectic at the start though covid regs allowed for a smooth start. The half is good through ballot entry and very expensive!!
All I can say about the half is its an extended parkrun with highlights of the majority of Londons' sights. If I had a choice of London halves then I'd say Landmarks feels more of a road race but agin entry by ballot. Would I enter ( Royal Parks)the ballot for 2022? of course!!! Roll on Feb for the full marathon ballot result. Good luck.

Chunky - And I would suggest the "opted-in for e-mail" are possibly more likely to volunteer as they tend to be more engaged

BK brighter days ahead
Huge numbers on narrow paths pushed us away from our closest event not helped by many of those we became friends with on day one started to drift away. We are lucky to have many to choose from within a decent runnable distance and that combined with using parkrun within an 18 mile long run led us to Victoria Dock where we quickly bonded with a core of 20 regulars. Covid and now cancer led us to rethink our running plans and with not want to travel too far and on some days only being able to run/walk 5k led us back homeward. At present numbers are well below those a few years ago making it much easier to bond again with those we ran with before. Whilst the spirit and nature of parkrun has changed in our 11 years experience and we may not always agree with or like some of the changes or directions HQ go in, it is comforting to know that if you scratch the surface you can still find something within the event to lift, support and inspire you. We don’t know many of the 300 others running alongside us and on the whole any interactions are short lived but to a smaller extent we have rekindled some of our little community spirit within a wider setting.

CW - grumpy old man as stated. I shall say no more
Don't get me started on tourists who think they are great for doing 86 parkruns at 84 different events and NEVER volunteer.
