I did the opposite on my first English attempt. Hopefully I'll do better as head down south next month.

When visiting England I've sometimes found the 9 o'clock starts and public transport systems incompatible, even when trying to get to the nearest parkrun only a few miles away

Heslington and meeting Idrisdragon was good. Must say the post parkrun coffee in the sport village was rather nice.

Still to work out my Manchester and London ones.

Hills of Death (HOD) - I have a bit of an accent but I don't think anyone would accuse me of being Scottish, last check 40 of 53 years spent living in England. PARKRUN did not exist :¬)

I found the 9.00am start a bit of a panic but liked the fact I was finished just after I would have started a Scottish one

I guess it is just what you get used to. I don't do many these days as 9am is so late as I train earlier every other day.

The 9.30 start is better for allowing you to make use of a hotel breakfast buffet beforehand.

I've not done a Scottish one either, only Ireland and Northern Ireland. When I did Brickfields in Dublin I knew it was a 9.30 start but got there far too early because I didn't know if the bus would come on time (it did).

I was ruminating about the parkruns that got away the other day. I missed Edinburgh a few years ago when I was there on a Saturday because it felt like too much of a faff to get there from the centre (Holyrood would be much easier and I will do it sometime soon, unless I end up doing one in Glasgow instead).

And I missed Crystal Palace once when my son had a race at the track - it wasn't until 10 so I had time to do parkrun first before watching him - but I couldn't find it! I look at the parkrun website and map of the course now and have no idea how I couldn't find it, but I couldn't, and didn't see anyone in parkrun gear on their way to it, so gave up.
