Had another go at Guildford parkrun this time with my eyes closed for over half a lap - more guide runner training and we now have 12 people in the Guildford Guide Runners and a couple of them can run outside of parkrun too. Here's one of the team from last week.

Re: Italian parkruns
A friend of mine is one of the RDs at Roma Pineto - I believe she does an English briefing (in addition to the Italian one) if there's a need.

I did Milano Nord. I think the briefing was in Italian but lots of English speakers about to translate anything vital. Was about 40 people over half were non-Italians. Aussies, SA, Dutch and of course Brits. G

Well done GH. I never got any training but we managed a couple marathons, half a dozen halves and many parkruns and lots of fun long runs. It's mostly common sense but training is a great move. G

I did Firenze on 29th Feb 2020 I'm pretty sure the briefing, such as it was, was in Italian (most of the small number of runners were locals, and regulars.) What I do remember, but didn't mention in my blog, was (like Faelladparken in Copenhagen) how 'simple' it all seemed - far fewer marshals, shorter briefings etc. I do prefer that sort of parkrun. The 'corporate' feel has taken over in places (no criticism of core teams here, it's a result of attracting bigger numbers I think. )
I did Faelledparken for the second time last year and I liked the fact that they were able to name every single volunteer in their run briefing as they didn't have that many. I did a German one in December as well but I can't remember if they mentioned everyone, I think they might have done.
That said when I did Tidworth on NYD, they named all their volunteers too. Frimley Lodge names the run director and the tailwalkers but they have upwards of 30 volunteers each week, so it would be time-consuming to name them all.

Falkirk had 47 volunteers last week. There were a lot of pacers, but still around 30 apart from them.

We had 30 this week which included 12 pacers. We were rammed because a lot of people had races on the Sunday and we have some regulars who are injured. 4 were DoE. Let's hope we have as many this week!

No.12
We are planning a euro train holiday so I had a look at Zuiderpark parkrun this morning, which might be a stop for us, and could see a sudden big increase in numbers last saturday (avg 77?) to 217. Interesting to then see 40+ from Les Croupiers RC (Cardiff) and 50+ from Redway Runners (Milton Keynes). I wonder if they planned it together or if it was a coincidence. Sounds like a great social side to both clubs either way.

Fizz :-)
Looks like wshippin was first finisher. Wonder if they deliberately picked event 69?
