Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

So if you’re in a boat and you fall out...I suppose you just have to hope you drift ashore :-)

@Sushi, I think the hamsters are on holiday...

I did an OWS on 1st Nov to get into the hall of fame but the badge didn't turn up. Messaged the hamster boss but still nothing :-(

Looking at the internet, it's 16 degrees this end

There's a river nearish to me that I'd love to swim in, but it's the getting warm after that may be difficult. I swam in the summer and cycled home along the towpath. Thinking of donning a tri-suit or shorts and vest top and running home to get warm. Anyone else do this? (I'm not a wetsuit wearer.)

I'll be swimming at the local lake on Weds anyway, but like to go to the river as my pal usually comes with me and we can't sign guests in at the lake now it's on winter time.

*Should've said - run there, swim in running gear and then head home.

I've done that a few times when away, but only when the weather has been warm.

Not run home RS, but when I river swam last winter I just got back in the car with the heated seats on. I have a new venue in mind this year which is by the Reading parkrun course. So, a part swim run is definitely on. I would be wearing running shorts and a rash vest so a run would help to dry off as well.

I'm trying to decide whether I'm up for cold water swimming. A couple of frosty mornings and I'm wondering what it will have done to the temperature of the lake. Problem is, I can only go for the 10 o'clock slot as I have to be in work by 12, and I'm not sure that gives me the wiggle room to take ages getting in, have a swim, and then slowly warm up.

I'm booked at the lake tomorrow, not swum (indoor or out) for 5 weeks since having a panic attack at work. I swim skins so am only aiming to get in for a few minutes tomorrow, but hoping it might help lift the brain fog a bit.

Very excited about the arrival of my new gloves. I thought you lot might appreciate them.
