*work-related post, feel free to skip, ignore, tell me off about, report as spam, and don't click on the spoiler if you would rather not succumb to the taint of commercialism*

I work for the publishers of this book and I'm going to blog about it too when I've had a chance to read it but I thought some of you at least might be interested in Wild Waters by Susanne Masters. I thought it would be illustrated with photographs but all the illustrations are by Alice Goodridge and they're gorgeous. It arrived yesterday and I only opened it this morning so this is just first impressions but I'm going to have to pay a lot more attention to it than I'd planned. I thought it was just going to be a guide book to some nice places to swim. Instead, it's a guide to some of things you're swimming with and the landscapes and waterscapes you're swimming or paddling through. Stick it on your Christmas list.

I only have one copy and I'll give it away when I've reviewed it.

Sneaked in a Loch swim today. I’m in full neoprene now. I’d guess the water was around 10*. The last few swims I’ve felt a bit nauseous whilst swimming. I’m assuming it’s a cold water thing.

HP cold water in the ears makes me nauseous - do you wear earplugs? I recommend them.

Well done HP

Our only lake that's still open is only open Thurs and Sat mornings and I just can't manage to get there.

About This Thread

Maintained by Nick Cook
There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
