Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It's 24 degrees at my swimming lake. Too hot! Some of us winter dippers were reminiscing about the cooler temperatures.

Fru: Coniston was pretty warm the other day ... but we were only dipping in the edges.

Club to Pub in the Thames last night. 1.5k first third upstream then back downstream the other side of the island. Easily the most crowded spaces I've been in in 18 months, as the exit point is onto a pub frontage, with crowds of swimmers/family/spectators/BBQ. However the swim itself was lovely.

I’m also missing the cold cold swims. All my options are warm at the moment. Although that also means enjoying some longer swims

I think you get more benefits from the cold though in all honesty

We had a group get into danger yesterday a new swimmer not listening to the experienced and got dragged along by the tide into the rocks in the bay

Rnli callout

A timely reminder to learn more about tides and your ability in open seas

We are going to write some safety and life saving lessons I’m happy to share here when they are ready and also love to know any of your safety views

Also Yesterday we had a litter incident someone had left a big piece of thick foam on the riverbank that had been left with part in the water so too heavy to move. The cows in that field had started to nibble the edges. Arnt people thoughtless!! So we ended up floating it back along the river boot camp challenge style. Getting it out was a work of torture but again a new boot camp exercise fold and tread on the top to get the water out

Lessons in respect of the sea and litter picking

Those incidents sound scary and upsetting FRU. I'd love it if you could share the safety info.
