I'm very lucky to have membership of the local swimming lake and I also work there 2 days a fortnight. Working on building back up endurance at the moment; although I'll lose that again in winter when swims will be shorter!

I do need to get some variation tho' with rivers and the sea. No sea to swim in here tho' as we're on a muddy estuary. Hoping to get a train to Devon once a month-ish and swim with a sea group.

FRU, we will be in the Lake District at the end of July as Binks is doing the Lakeland 100, and we have a week's holiday afterwards. We are staying in / near Ambleside. I shall be packing my wetsuit and swimming kit in its entirety!!

Lots of great swimming to be had, visitors from the south do need to be aware that the lakes might be substantially colder than they are used to, even in the height of summer. 13C in Ullswater last time I swam there, in August last year. I got very cold even in a wetsuit!

Our unheated lido is 20ish, and it's still *refreshing* getting in!

Ooo Wine Legs I’ll give you a shout when we are there. I am plotting some early morning challenges to kick starf my running and enjoy some run/swim/runs along with as much swimming in lake consiston as the family will allow

I’ve no wetsuit but will bring my neoprene gloves and boots because I am sure even my hardy soul will notice a difference!

I've been melting today in my home office. I need a swim, the cooler the better. I'll try the Thames by the Reading parkrun course.

I've been swimming in the local river quite a bit. Nice 20 min cycle along a towpath to get there. We go early in the morning as it gets busy from 11:00 onwards. Lovely vibe on both sides and I think it's going to be the place to go for schoolkids/students in the summer holidays.

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
