This Friday I have no lido booked and instead have an opticians appointment I guess it has to be done. I think in compensation a free river swim will be in order. The Thames East of Reading. I have a new Lomo tow float that needs baptising.
FRU (KeepTheFaith) Jun 2021 5:39am, 26 Jun 2021 12,809 posts	0 FRU (KeepTheFaith) After my almost year swimming in river and sea I have a view from myself personally about wetsuit or no wetsuit I feel my body has adapted so well, It could be I have enough body fat for my core to cope very well with the cold. I am glad I didnt go down the wetsuit route I found a long sleeve rash vest good when I started but when coming out of the water it became just another annoying clingy layer. Ditching that and going just skins was a revelation However in the winter our swims were much shorter I agree with the advice about about renting as that would give you chance to test out what you think before investing. Really worth it I swear by neoprene boots and gloves and a bobble if like me you are a breast stroke swimmer Longer term if I start to do more and further out of depth I may consider a wetsuit but as it stands I am so happy in skins and hoping that my body continues to acclimatise so next winters swims can be longer
