Another vote for the wiggle blue body glide. Work a well not too much of a residue when you get out either. :-)

Not so cold, I had my wetsuit just incase - essential holiday packing;) i was ready for it to be colder - real alpine style - but was ok - would have been on without wetsuit. The lake is not so high up, and apparently one of the warmer ones - I'd recommend it if you are near there.

Report from the IOW, my first sea swim.

I wore my rash vest which has a high neck so that dealt with the chaffing issue although to be honest I did such a short swim that I doubt it would have happened anyway. Spent about 15 minutes in the water, just didn't feel right doing much more as we'd gone to visit my Dad and step-mum and I didn't want to make the day about my swim. It really was just to give me the waves+salt+wearing swim socks/booties experience. All of that was fine, it was very wavy, so I felt quite woozy but I don't think much of the swoosh will be wavy unless we have a headwind. Sea was so warm! Couldn't believe it. Didn't get any of the shock of going into water that you get at the lake...

I did a few swims parallel to the shore, going up and down in about waist deep water, then tried swimming into the waves and swimming with the waves behind me. Nice little practise of the hopefully similar conditions for the end of the swoosh.

Do you wear ear plugs in the lake, Katie? I find they help to keep the potential woozy, seasicky feeling at bay and especially so in the sea.

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
