Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

luck & you do it first, & tell us about it. Hope you have a lovely warm calm day in July :-) Presume you'll wear a wetsuit?

Not a race & definitely a wetsuit. One of my chums swam this last Summer & loved it.
I'm relying on the local boat skipper knowing when the safe window between whirlpools is due. I'll post pics after if still about!

I think I'll be doing my first OW swim of the year on May 15th. Water temp is currently 11 degrees, fingers crossed it gets a bit warmer as that is COLD! :-O

You'll soon acclimatise LN as you've done plenty of OW swimming before. Just take your time getting in.

After swimming in Thailand seas this year I am keen to get back to Open Water swimming again.

I am having trouble finding a swimsuit as i am on the short, fat side and am quite skint so any suit has to be really cheap! What is more important, following the weight or the height when determining wetsuit fit?

Don't know the correct answer Jambomo but I'd say weight - if it's too long you can cut bits off the arms and legs, but if you can't actually move in it you're a bit stuck!

I would agree that the weight is probably more important, as would this lot (who I trust!)... londonroyaldocksows.co.uk

From my own experience, I'm kind of the opposite shape to you, Jambomo, tall but very skinny (64kg) so I wear the smallest suit that blueseventy make, and it has served me well :)

Agree with comments above that you should use the weight as your guide.

I met an OW swimmer at the weekend who wasn't sure on wetsuit sizing so ordered 5 different sizes of wiggles cheapest wetsuit, picked the best fit and sent the other 4 back.

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
