If I were in Sidmouth tomorrow I'd be doing the Boxing Day swim - sadly I'm going 90 miles in the wrong direction

Don't forget ferret the sea is a lot warmer than Lake 32 at this time of the year!

Nice little Christmas day swim of 1 km at Amanzimtoti beach Durban South. A cool day, think the water at 23 degrees was a little warmer than air temp some of the time

I'd opt for Indian Ocean over 12 degrees - stay in long enough for a lengthy swim

Just signed up to do a swim across Corryvreckan in July.
One of my chums is hiring a boat to guide us past the world's third largest whirlpools there that only stop for about one hour per day. I watched a YouTube clip about the crossing & it all looks pretty exciting. The crossing is 1.4km & faster folk (not me) will have time to make the return journey too
