Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I hadn't heard of an Olympic bar that wasn't as Sharkie described until I think EP linked one a few months ago.

My gym has a shorter bar which is only 12kg. So not even a women’s Olympic.

I wasn’t given a choice, for deadlifts there is one long bar that is 20kg at my gym.
There are two trap/hex bars but the labels have come off and no one knows which is the 20 and which the 25.

It’s my grip strength that I find limiting with bar lifts, my right hand has a dodgy joint and my hands are quite small.
PT was talking about straps to help, but he then forgot to send me the link about them and I’ve only just remembered…
Does anyone else use some sort of strap to help with grip?

I don't use them, Rosehip, but I've seen them used by someone I follow on Twitter:

twitter.com

These seem like the kind of things:

rdxsports.co.uk

(no recommendation on that brand, just one of the first hits)

I wear weightlighting gloves Rosehip. I have small hands too but also restrictive movement in my left hand due to arthritis - I can't close it to make a fist.

These are one of the pairs I got reasonably cheap on eBay.

I bought some of these - I don’t use them much but they are good to help with grip without feeling too bulky

I’ve got some of these

Grip strength is something I’ve just started working on/learning about. There’s so much more to it than I previously realised.

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.
