I'm quite small... but have massive hands and feet (freak) :-)

I use the 20kg bar for nearlt everything. Definitely deadlifts and squats.

I think I'm up to 60kg on DL, must check as I'm been out of my strength phase but might go back before outdoor season.

Have never used gloves or belt ...but I do have a sleeve for the bar on my bony shoulders!

I have some cheap straps which I wouldn't recommend but have rarely used them as grip practice on deadlifts was always useful for Olympic lifting. Definitely useful for pushing your lifts though if grip is a limiting factor

Definitely worth getting a belt Sharkie. Very helpful for squatting. I've started wearing mine more regularly as I'm upping my squat in this phase and I'd forgotten how helpful it was.

How do straps - and gloves for that matter - work? (Are gloves cos hands might be sweaty? Mine never are cos I'm always so cold!)

Straps literally connect you to the bar. Loop goes around your wrist and then the loose end is wrapped around the bar and you grip it.

Belt allows your abs/ core to work more efficiently. You take a deep breath hold, tighten belt and then every time you fill up before every rep you'll be pushing against the belt which makes core more stable.

There's a better technical explanation than that. If Kodo doesn't provide it, I'll try and look it up.

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.
