Hello all!! Well after an agonising 5 days of not knowing what to do, tears and general anguish I decided to go for the permanent job which meant relocating. My son and I will be moving up to Dingwall (north of Inverness) over the summer. It is a big move and will be difficult at first but I think we could have a great life up there

Just stumbled upon this thread, after wondering if there might be one like this!
My situation is a funny one - I was in a retail management role for approx. 3 years, but it all got a bit much, and I had pretty much had enough of being on the front line of retail, as well as ending up feeling stressed out and depressed. I resigned last July, but remained on good terms, and helped out in the office over the summer.
At the end of the summer, a couple of part-time roles came up in the office, which I was offered, and accepted. However, it is now very much a case of thinking I should never have gone back, as it's pretty much the same crap/different roles/places. No one in the office is particularly happy, with most keeping an eye out for something else. I knew I would leave permanently soon, but had hoped I'd have another job first.
However, in a turn of events, and a disagreement last week with a director about an email which was sent to me last week, which I felt was unfair, harsh & should have been brought up with me directly if there was an issue (he disagreed), I've decided it's best just to get out - it really wasn't pretty & everyone is quite shocked, although it's all pretence of being fine now. Planning to speak to my other boss this week, then do the deed officially & hand in my notice for good.
So now brings me to proper job hunting - quite scary, in that I have no idea where to start!

like others, just come across thread (mainly cos I've been off Fetch since Sept 13 & hidden away from World post Redundancy!). Worked for same company for 18 years & worked my way up from 10K pa in 1995 to 29.5K in 2011 until Redundancy. Also, did over 25 years with Army Reserves (back when it was the TA) & had 3 Mobilised Tours of Duty.
I'm based near Birmingham (Sutton Coldfield) have Admin/Finance background & not sure what I'm looking for, apart from a Challenge! Also trained as Bikeablility Instructor and just started doing a bit of Freelancing + recently did my RLSS Lifeguard course & potentially, could pick up casual work at local pool. I'm also a SkyRide Leader & voluntary Ride Leader for BikeNorthBirmingham. Part of me would like to get into the Health Industry however, for the right role, I would get back into Office Work. These days, it's all about Quality of Life for myself, my wife (who has Crohn's) and our 7 year old daughter.

WS - it is absolutely beautiful up round Dingwall. The biking, walking and general outdoor options are huge.
tiamo - you have a lovely mixed bag of skills and experience there. Quality of life is very important IMHO and it's what influenced my decision to take the DIngwall job, as opposed to 3+hrs of commuting every day.
