Fortunately MrsC worked much harder than me at school and therefore has a really good job and is able to support us all. Meanwhile I get to do the laundry, ironing, cooking and cleaning (and sneak out on my bike when I can). Fair swap really. :-)

Not been on Fetch for ages and thought I'd pop in at this thread - seems like all is going well in Fetch jobhunting land, given no posts since August? Well, at least I hope so. :-)

(Me? Well, reason for popping in is that the atmosphere at my job is so toxic at the moment, I feel I can't bear it anymore. Might have made the wrong choice when I picked this job over the other one I was offered in December. Alas, will have to stick it out for another year or two as otherwise, my CV will look like a job-hopper's CV and I just can't afford it. :-()

SpicedApple - don't stick it out. Get some temping work or something or just keep applying and say it's not the job it appeared to be - you'll think of something credible. Explain in your application that you want to be settled and focused and not a job-hopper. Most organisations know that there are some terrible managers out there and belligerent co-workers. Do it; don't suffer in silence. I worked in a toxic environment - it can ruin your work ethic.

I am having to look again. I was made redundant last year in February, then I got funding to run the arts centre 12 hours a week, which runs out this September... The other funding I got to teach arts workshops for people with early stages of dementia runs out in June... So I am currently applying for a grant for the continuation of the dementia project and looking for something else to replace the arts centre work...

Hanneke, I remember you runnign the arts centre, can't believe funding runs out in September already - time flies. The dementia project sounds amazing - fingers crossed you'll get the funding, sounds like something really worthwhile.

RS, thank you for saying that. Last job was only a year as well though (and before that, I did completely different stuff), so very much job-hopper CV... My manager and co-workers are all ok (and some really nice), it's someone from a different team who's spreading their toxicity and trying to get rid of me, so not as bad as if it was in my own team.

Sounds very unpleasant SA :(

and yes, it seems to have come round very quickly, those two years/seasons... season finishes 20 September, after that no more work, unless I managed to get funding for projects. I have an idea or two... at the moment undecided. I have enjoyed my free lance work but I have only been able to survive because of the 12 hours a week at the arts centre. I need something to replace that.

I have seen a full time job I like, just outside Bristol. Well paid, three year contract...

Alternatively, I am setting up a business growing medicianl herbs and producing remedies. But that won't earn much first off, it needs building.

I have a few opstions and plans though.

Hi all - bouncing the thread.

I've just been made redundant. The company's been taken over by a private investment company and they're demanding cuts. I think I'm getting quite a good package though and they're paying an outplacement consultancy firm to help/advise us. So hopefully I won't be out of work for too long (and can then spend the redundancy money on a Jag! :-))

Thought I'd pop a post on here, as I'll be starting the job hunt again soon. My seasonal contract will end in October, and to be honest - it can't come soon enough - constant back shift, busy summer, huge areas, not enough staff, and not much thanks. This is my second temporary role in the job, and I'm craving job security and something I don't dread.

Problem being, I have no idea what to look for. I do still have a hankering to look into vet nursing, but can't really afford to be a student and have missed the boat this year again. Ugh!

Hope everyone else having lots of luck!
