I’ve just started my 43rd year at work. In effect two careers but basically all in one industry. I’m flagging in truth

Almost everthing.
I have the best job in the world, for somebody with my experience and ambition.
So lucky to have moved to a company that makes me feel valued.

Three years + into retirement and I still miss many aspects of my former job in particular tracking down faults/fault diagnosis. But the new shift regime and a handful of people I don’t miss at all.

I'm lucky: I feel I'm helping students to change their lives for the better and to achieve things they never thought they could. I would miss that. I also feel valued by managers, which means a lot when in my previous working life I definitely wasn't. I've been doing it 8 years, and don't reach official retirement age for another 13. I hope it's still going then. As things stand in terms of enjoying the job, I would hope to work beyond retirement though I'd probably reduce my hours.

I used to say the only thing I’d miss is the people but I don’t even have much of a connection with my colleagues now. Probably all I’d miss is the monthly pay in the bank.

Those that get something rewarding from their work are very lucky. Based on my experience employers care less and less than they used to bout their staff
Last week in terms of improving colleague experience, they two highlights were the 2 new senior staff that have joined. Thats totally tone deaf based on the staff feedback they have been getting
