Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

45 minutes on the slide this morning. Just managed 10km but it was close! HR is way up but I'm guessing the lack of sleep, too much food, booze and cheese hangover had something to do with that!

I just did an easy 10,000m. My hr was also up on normal and I finished about 50 metres behind myself from last time. And I can't blame it on a hangover because I've not been overindulging. Although I do like the sound of a cheese hangover. Mature stilton in my case!

Another 45 minutes in the shed this morning. It was -1.6c when I kicked off. Got through the 10k mark with a few seconds to spare and at a slightly lower HR than on Monday. I just need some consistent metres to start seeing progress again before I feed in some pacey stuff.

Nice 10kms gents .. a popular distance it appears. !

Nellers. . I do love my aircon in my rowing den but you are taking it to another level !! 😮 I’m not sure I could ever get warm at that starting temperature.

A standard 12k @ 20 for me tonight. Last few days have been a struggle. I’ve just got time to row and eat before going to bed on my long shifts. Starting to count down the weeks to retirement and not worrying how to fit in trading 🙂

I wore a thermal long sleeve under a vest, lycra shorts and a fleece earwarmer headband. Once I'd done 10 minutes I was fine. Even my hands warmed up. Feet were quite cold by the time I finished but that was about the worst thing. Also the temp in the shed went up by 3.5c while I was rowing so I seem to be a good space heater.

Are you that close to retiring Jef? Lucky bugger.

I retired three years ago, at 57. After surviving a few rounds of bloodletting over the years I was ready to take the redundy and early pension deal. I would describe myself now as semi-retired because I still do a bit of stuff for them on a part-time self-employed basis. Earns a bit of beer money and leaves plenty of time for the running and rowing.

Retirement is good. I recommend it!

Yep. Some time this year. ( 58 years. ) I’ve done 28 in current job .. and would go after 30 anyway but financially now is fine but Covid is mucking things a bit. Will be going to work part time for my daughter to take some pressure off her ( she’s self employed and snowed under , which is good )

I was 26 years in the job. My goal now is to spend more years receiving from the company pension scheme than I did paying into it :-)

Retirement still a way off here, although definitely considering scaling things back once kids have flown the nest. Youngest is 15 so still a few years yet.

No rowing for the last few days but have signed up to a January challenge that starts on Monday.
Will be aiming for 400km, which is just over 14k every day. It will be a long old slog.

Wishing you all a very happy New Year and hope that 2021 improves for everyone.
