Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Morning. I should be out for a run today but it's as black as a hat, blowing a hoolie, and chucking it down sideways. So I wimped out and started my second time round on the standard (but slightly modified) Pete Plan. 500m reps done, and slightly quicker than last time.

A friend texted last night to tell me she's nearly at the top of the waiting list for a C2.

She used to run but has a knee issue (not running-related) for which surgery has been only partially successful so is looking for other forms of exercise. I'll direct her to Dark Horse and the C2 site for technique and ideas. Any other tips you'd give a newbie?

Yesterday I did the session with the different damper settings. It was good but it was a pain to change then get going again. Doubt I would do it again.

Hoping to be getting back on the C2 at the weekend Muttley, but I doubt I'll be in any position to catch you up. It's going to be a slow and steady cautious build up to doing distance again.

I've been trying to fill the gap left by rowing with other stuff I can do and stupidly overdid the running. I'm now nursing a sore right knee and I'm reduced to doing abs workouts as pretty much the only thing I can do without aggravating something for a few more days!

The perils of having a 50 year old body and a mind that still thinks I'm a teenager!

I know, Muttley. There were a few days at the start of the month when I was first in the league and it threw me completely. Semi-normal service was quickly resumed!

That's bad news, Nellers. Take it easy and come back steadily. I often have a variation on that problem. I perform much better with low-volume training and plenty of recovery, but see what other people my age are doing, feel like I'm slacking so ramp up the volume, and then wonder why I'm injured / it's all gone to pot!

Lesley - I thought all the damper resets might be a pain. I wonder if it's adapted from a spinning session where it's much easier to change the resistance on a bike.
