Could it be that your marathon pace is faster than you think so 9-9:30 does feel comfortable. riggys99, it would be nice if it was, but I dont think so. My absolutely going for it pace is about 7.50 for a flat half, so about 8.50 for a full marathon feels about right. I can run at 10mm pace +, it just that it feels no different to the 9-9.30 pace, and is frustrating - especially on longer runs, however I will do it! |

Minimag - are you not running the same way ? I know I coach so put the time into learning to run at different paces. In effect my stride is shorter when I run slower as I attempt to keep cadence up, I use the same approach on trails. Research has shown my cadence does drop but it is still up around 170 As a 9.x marathon runner 10 to 11mm ideally needs to become your bread and butter in the same way 8 to 9 is for a 3hr runner so it is worth investing the time. |

A lovely 5 miles. Up to the old pit top to where the wifeโs step mums ashes are (next to a pit pony statue) to let her know whatโs been happening (run past most weeks but always stop for a chat this time of year). Through the woodlands to the next village and back along the road. Recovery run so low HR and around 10 minute miles Core and yoga before my last night shift of the year ๐ |

riggys99 There's a life to an abandoned pit, even after the winding gear's gone and nature has retaken its own. My earlier running years often took me to pit sites in the West Yorkshire coalfield - passing by a salvaged wheel from the headgear took my mind back to how tough the mining life was.

An extremely wet 5.55 miles. Usually enjoy a run against the elements but not this morning.

Uni of Stirling parkrun for me today. Took it fairly easy and chatted round with a mate. Enjoyable and nice but chilly day for it.

A sodden 18 mile LSR. Started just as the deluge eased off but the trail was akin to a shallow stream. Zoom Flys dunked in a bucket to be cleaned. Happy New Year! |

First run for a while. Still a bit of a struggle but at least I was out. Loving the milder weather and of course I had too many layers on. Debating over a NYD parkrun now |

First 3 mile run/walk as I was just not feeling it ๐. Give myself a good talking to whilst walking the hill and ran the 4 miles home ๐. I even earned a Garmin finished strong badge ๐
