Been for a run and now …..

Overreaching

Your recent training load may be a bit too high. Focus on adequate recovery to turn things around

My 3rd run this week giving me a whopping 9.5m for the week 😂

that's what mine has always been like, Ness - but now it's productive on bugger all training.
bet it drops to recovery now though, missed my run window today and the forecast is looking pants all weekend

The weather forecast is dreadful for here, too, Rosehip.

I'm sure this has been covered already on the thread, I've had a very quick random scan through and can't find anything, so apologies for asking again...

I've had my 255 since August and my status has gone to 'Peaking' for the first time today (probably because I've been ill and hardly trained all week) evidenced by a best parkrun course time for the year which felt relatively easy given poor conditions. I'd very much like to maintain this status for three weeks if possible, until the next pacers event at my home parkrun.

Any tips on the best way to do this would be gratefully received!

I wish I knew, Goofee. I've never seen Peaking on my watch. I wonder whether it's a response to a period of consistent training followed by a drop accompanied by normal HRV etc., when it assumes you're tapering for something, in which case you're only ever going to hold on to that status for a short time.

My HRV has gone from always being around 40-45 and in the green zone to 33 and in the red, which I guessed was due to being ill this week.

Some info here. Basically, I think Garmin notices a drop in training load, whilst also still seeing an increase in VO2 Max. But on the face of it I’m surprised it’s put you in that status after a layoff due to illness. As a matter of interest, were RHR/Stress levels elevated?

garmin.com

“After scoring a productive training status, you can peak by significantly decreasing your training load with light exercise. If your training has been effective, your VO2 max trend continues to increase although your training load diminishes”.

And.

“It is that special and brief time when you are able to take your foot off the gas, but your fitness level (your VO2 max) continues to improve. It doesn’t last long and requires some smart work to achieve”.

Yes, both levels elevated; RHR usually 44-45 has been around 50 and stress usually 25ish has been up towards 50.

Surprising to me that it’s put you in Peaking then, as it noticed increased RHR and higher Stress (alongside the reduced load), but I don’t know how it works apart from that link.

Thanks for the link, by the way, I'll have a careful read through a bit later.

Yes, it surprised me given how I've felt this week, but then so did the run being the quickest this year on the course whilst feeling relatively easy given the mud and high wind.

Maybe I'll go with the watch training suggestions and see where that gets me...

About This Thread

Maintained by EvilPixie
According to my Garmin this morning my body battery was at just 41 and I was "strained"
I have been strained for most days in the last 2 weeks
My body battery has also been low

So today it suggested a threshold run of up to an hour!

What's your Garmin say?
