Due to volatility in the markets, they will now be updating the price cap every 3 months ( it's been 6 months up until now ) Predictions are : Oct 22 - up 80%, strong prediction Jan 23 - up a further 31%, prediction Apr 23 - up a further 15%, weak prediction Jul 23 - down 11%, weak prediction Based on typical usage over winter etc, then prediction is average user will pay 117% more over next 12 months compared to current price cap. Those like EP and myself who are currently on a cheap fix then will be more........... moneysavingexpert.com |

First time I've ever agreed with Keir Starmer when he said don't let them raise the price cap!

K5 Gus, it keeps getting revised up. It will be 80% increase tomorrow, but that 31% will probably be closer to 50% for Jan. Similarly for April and July 2023, expect those to be revised up too. Expect to be paying almost 300% higher than last April (2022) by April (2023). Or if you prefer, if your energy bill is currently £1500/year, expect to be paying £4000/year by next year. |

I was at £64, fixed, which went to £94 when u fixed, then went up to £124... That is already double! That, I understand, will double again in October to £250... I already struggle AND am doing everything to keep things down in consumption. I cannot go down any further... Unless I switched off my fridge and freezer. I already have turned off my hot water...

Don't forget we'll get the £400 grant spread over 6 months, October-March so that will help. Looks like there will be further grants to come too.

Won't go very far though... I will be at roughly £200/month more... It just about covers 2 months 🙄 if that... And do we then have to pay it back again like the last one? I didn't want that one for that reason. I don't like being forced into debt/loans that are outside my control/will...
